Take the Low-Risk Approach to BSS Transformation

One of the main barriers to a successful digital transformation is legacy systems. By removing this barrier, CSPs can take out the main elements of risk in a transformation program. As such, CSPs are reviewing their BSS strategies to examine if implementing a new digital BSS on a greenfield basis can form the foundation for the transformation of the parent CSP’s legacy BSS.

This new BSS can be for a new-brand (e.g. attacker brand or B2B brand) or a new line of business (e.g. FTTx). Then over time this new BSS gradually replaces the main legacy as customers are migrated as they upgrade (e.g. from 4G to 5G services) or change plans. All new customers are added to the new digital BSS. This organic and commercial approach to migrating customers from legacy stacks to a new digital BSS presents a low-risk strategy for transformation.
